Disorder favorite Savas Pascalidis has made his first appearance on one of the hottest techno labels of the moment, NON Series. The label, founded by PSYK has made a strong name for itself in it’s short existence with releases and remixes from key underground players in the techno scene such as Norman Nodge, ROD, Jonas Kopp and Marcus Suckut.
The first track ‘Mechanic’ is a well constructed dance floor weapon. Everything from it’s moody, rumbling sub bass and tough drum loop to the euphoric pads building up through track scream peak time, slamming techno which fits perfect in today’s sound while as usual, Savas manages to keep an old school feel in his music.
‘Introspection’, on the other hand is more reminiscent of Savas’ recent work on sweatshop and the kind of sound we’ve come to know of him since he released his Nuclear Rawmance LP in 2010. It’s a much more stripped down, lo-fi bass driven track full of retro sounding drum sequences and high’s. The use of old analog gear is always evident in his music and it gives it an organic touch which is missing in a lot of techno released today.
The Release is a split e.p with upcoming Argentinian producer OSWLD who has been catching the attention of many big players lately. He also delivers 2 funky bass driven pure techno tracks to make this e.p a strong release for NON and one of the best techno releases so far in 2013.
